See Who Went Home on American Idol
Michael Sarver was sent home Thursday on American Idol, leaving nine contestants vying for the prize.
The 27-year-old oil rig worker from Jasper, Texas performed "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" on Wednesday night's Motown-themed show.
Revisit Idol's Top 36.
It was the second week in a row he landed in the bottom three. Paula Abdul likened him to an "old-school Vegas lounge act."
The judges deliberated using their one-time Wild Card, but Simon Cowell ultimately told him: "Michael, you're going home. Sorry."
(After going off the air, Cowell was the first on the stage to shake Sarver's hands, an eyewitness tells Usmagazine.com.)
Also in the bottom three Thursday: Matt Giraud, 23, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Scott MacIntyre, 23, from Scottsdale, Ariz.
Stevie Wonder also performed.
